Hairstyles at the MTV Movie Awards ranged from ratty to punk to sleek, as they always do at the anything-goes awards show.  But, two of TV’s biggest stars

kept it classy and cool with a casual but sophisticated look perfect for the steamy summer months.

Hayden Panettiere and a blonde Leighton Meester both arrived in similar styles, keeping their hair out of their faces all the while keeping the vibe laid back.

Here’s how to get the fresh, I-don’t-really-care-but-I-care look.

1). Shampoo and condition hair with Redken Body Full line to give hair major volume and lift.

2). Towel dry hair and apply Redken’s Urban Experiment Velvet Gelatin to scalp at midshaft and at the ends.  It’ll give the hair a cushioned velvet feel, leaving it soft and shiny but also give enough hold to last throughout the day.

3). Flip head upside down and blow dry, concentrating on the roots to add volume.

4). Use a paddle brush at the end of the blow dry to detangle and smooth hair away from face. Once hair is completely dry, spritz in Redken’s Urban Experiment line Wool Shake.

5). Comb hair with fingers away from face. Twist the midshaft and ends into a loose bun and secure with a few bobby pins.

6). Once bun is secured, pull out a couple random sections on top to make the look more loose and rough looking.  Finish with Redken Quick Dry 18.
