RAIN RAIN, GO AWAY!
I know. I should have been thrilled to hear raindrops hitting my roof when I rolled my tired self out of bed this morning.
We never get it it’s such a novelty and for a second I was excited. I could wear boots! I could wear a long coat. I could drink warm beverages all day, and consume untold quantities of soup. The possibilities were endless…for a brief moment.
Until I saw the forecast for the rest of the week. Rain all week. My hair was terrified. I was terrified for my hair! I knew any effort I would make would likely be fruitless. Rain doesn’t discriminate, either. It flattens pumped-up straight hair, and it frizzes otherwise beautiful curly hair. It’s a lose-lose. (Let’s not even address the anxiety it injects into Phoenix-area drivers and the absurd “Storm Team Coverage” it ignites on local news).
Drowning my sorrows in gossip, I flipped through the photos of last night’s Golden Globe Awards (my fave award show of the season). And, I saw a few really cute hairstyles (and dresses, but they unfortunately won’t make my hair look good this week) that might get me through the week. Turns out, it was rainy in Beverly Hills, too. (For future reference, I would totally hold someone’s umbrella).
So now I’m inspired thanks to Kate Winslet, among others. Always classy, she had her hair pulled back in a little chignon. Loved it. She wasn’t the only one who did it, either. Kristen Bell, Courteney Cox Arquette, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Toni Collette also pulled theirs back.
Must have been the weather. Off to find bobby pins….
