Rescue my hair

We’ve hit that time of the summer when it’s possible to sweat while showering.  It’s nasty.

Humid. Sticky. Sweaty.

It’s just not the best time of year to wear your hair down, especially if it’s long.  And there’s only so many things you can do, as a grown woman, to pull your hair back and still look like you’re NOT just coming from the gym or cleaning the house.

There’s the low ponytail.  Classy and simple.

There’s the messy bun.  Bohemian and I-care-but-I-don’t-want-it-to-look-like-I-care.

And then there’s the braided pony.  Very cute.  Fun.  But, still elegant enough to wear out.  And, it seems to be everywhere at the moment.

I just saw it on one of my favorite (and craziest in-character) actresses this past week — twice!  Callie Thorne, who plays Sheila Keefe on Rescue Me, wore the braided pony to two events.

Callie Thorne, wearing the of-the-moment and perfect-for-an-Arizona-summer look, a braided pony.

One was the Rescue Me season premiere.  The other, a gala dinner for the National Urban Technology Center (don’t know what that is, but anything with the title “gala” is fancy).

It’s simple, too.  She takes (I say “she” but Thorne probably had someone do it for her, let’s be real) two small sections of hair from the front of her head, french braids them each for just a couple series, braids out the rest and pulls it all back into a ponytail.

Super cute.  And, if it’s fancy enough for a gala, it’s fancy enough for an Arizona summer.
